laneyhogs Posted December 15, 2023 Report Posted December 15, 2023 I am seeking information on this silver box I have had for many years. A member of a Facebook group has suggested the stamp (top or bottom) indicates it was made by Komyo, who worked in several different shops. It is 4" X 5.5" X 1.75". Age? I has been suggested this is Meiji or Showa era. Any help is appreciated. Lee Laney Chico CA Quote
SteveM Posted December 15, 2023 Report Posted December 15, 2023 Yes, it says "by Kōmyō" (光明刻). Actually I'm not 100% sure of the pronunciation. It could be also be Kōmei. Usually the stamped bit says 純銀 (pure silver), but this one is too worn for me to make it out. Late Meiji or early Showa would be my guess as well. 2 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted December 16, 2023 Report Posted December 16, 2023 I agree, but the 'silver' stamp photo itself is too fuzzy and out of focus to see properly, not just worn, IMHO. Quote
