Hello, I would like to know if you can help me learn more about my katana since it only says that it is attributed to the kaifu school.

I think the paper says Shinshinto Kaifu so it was made in the late edo period after 1800.

I cant say more then it looks nice because there would be much more clear closeup pictures of the sword necessary and i dont know much about the Kaifu school.

Emm, as Christian says described as "Shinshinto Kaifu"  by NBTHK kanteisho dated Heisei 26 (2014) Jan 31.

For background and examples of Kaifu:

From the images this is an excellent looking [Shinshinto period] copy of an earlier [Koto] period sword.

Emm, what he means is that the smith who did it in the Shinshinto period (probably 1800's) copied the shape and style of the earlier period swords. It's a compliment, it is definitely an original Nihonto.

Thank you very much, I am new to the world of Japanese swords and their history. And I am fascinated to be able to educate myself with you about this type of things.
