ChrisA Posted December 5, 2023 Report Posted December 5, 2023 Hello. I am trying to ID this Japanese sword. I labeled one picture with "bayonet" but it isn't a bayonet. A second item not pictured here is a bayonet with a marking from the Heiho Ordnance Factory in Inchon, Korea. A family member inherited both and was told they were brought back from Japan in WWII. I'm trying to find out what this one is, and what the writing says. Thanks for any information! Chris A Quote

ROKUJURO Posted December 6, 2023 Report Posted December 6, 2023 Chris, that one is not old, it's recent! Old is more than 500 years back! 1 Quote

Conway S Posted December 6, 2023 Report Posted December 6, 2023 Hi Chris, Does the bayonet have the leather frog (belt hangar)? The frog attached to this sword is for an Arisaka bayonet so you could easily remove it and put it on the bayonet. The frogs for the artillery swords are quite hard to find. Conway Quote
