georgugler Posted December 3, 2023 Report Posted December 3, 2023 I was hoping one of the members of this great forum could identify the mon on the backstrap of this Type 19 Parade Saber. It looks like either crossed hand drums, crossed "I"s, or crossed hourglasses. Any help would be much appreciated. Quote

georgugler Posted December 4, 2023 Author Report Posted December 4, 2023 Hi Conway, That's excellent information! Thank you for showing the picture from the book as well, now I can be sure it's a known crest. Is there a chance somebody on this great forum knows which family used the crest as their mon? Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 4, 2023 Report Posted December 4, 2023 Hi Nick, it is a bit of a wild goose chase to find a specific family via a Mon. Families can have multiple Mon, including a main family line Mon and alternate Mon for each family branch. If you can imagine a family crest for lets say the "Smith" family, any old Smith could use the main crest if they liked. This is a rather informative & interesting thread about Mon on officers swords: Quote
