(Not tsuba but the theme)
When we first met, my wife would use these daily among the old equipment for her silk weaving loom. There are probably some outside in the garden even now, but she stopped weaving years ago, and her lovely old Edo loom was allowed to rot away.

Is the spool called "Itomaki"?

Jean, too small for a stool but I have already sanded it, cleaned it, wood-puttied the wobbly bits and painted it with linseed oil. Looking a little healthier now. :glee:
 

Possibility?
