Alexander_R Posted November 29, 2023 Report Posted November 29, 2023 Hello everybody, could you say me that this blade is koto? The blade comes from a reputable auction. As they made the mistake in the description saying that nagasa is 69 cm (in fact 60) I doubt their assessment of the blade attributed to koto. I understand that koshirae is of much later period and has no particular value. I ask you for help in the blade assessment. If you could tell me some words about tsuba tooI will be grateful. Quote
Rivkin Posted November 29, 2023 Report Posted November 29, 2023 Hard to be certain. The style does not match anything from Kamakura and probably Nambokucho so its likely later. Its quite straight with a strong kissaki so other common options are Tensho and shinshinto. It has quite a bit of color and bo utsuri, so shinshinto is unlikely. Overally I think its Tensho or generally 1550-1580s work. School is obviously very hard to determine, but I would through something along the lines of Fuyuhiro. Quote
