Matsunoki Posted November 24, 2023 Report Posted November 24, 2023 The tsuba is not the one shown in the papers…. or am I really going mad🙂 Quote
Matsunoki Posted November 24, 2023 Report Posted November 24, 2023 ……and aren’t those old green papers considered worthless? Somehow something is not right here. Quote
Stephen Posted November 24, 2023 Report Posted November 24, 2023 Good to see you back posting Colin @Matsunoki Must be a bit better 1 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted November 24, 2023 Report Posted November 24, 2023 I think the papered tsuba is the one that is on the koshirae and the one in picture with the papers is just an addon. I understand how community often sees the old papers as worthless, however I am giving them some credit. Regardless, when you have something like mumei attribution to Mizuta it is not a very high praise in my eyes. 1 Quote
BIG Posted November 25, 2023 Author Report Posted November 25, 2023 White paper Nr. 42..The very early papers are not bad IMO. If the blade was polished „previously“ we have the price range. Quote

You are right Jussi….my old eyes! I cannot see it selling at that money. Maybe it’s just the images but it looks very ordinary. Does that fuchi look repro to anyone? Quote
Geraint Posted November 25, 2023 Report Posted November 25, 2023 Dear All. The clue about the tsuba, in auctioneer speak, is the phrase, 'together with', which always implies something additional. Even at the starting bid the total inclusive of fees would be £3600, perhaps they are getting carried away by the presence of papers? All the best. Quote
Baba Yaga Posted November 25, 2023 Report Posted November 25, 2023 For some reason collectors go to the extremes with these green papers. Not "all of them" are shady. Quote
