I just read a post by Ritchie Murtha that his father has passed away and that he has found several books/cases of books by Gary that are available for purchase. He listed them on Sale of Japanese Tsuba and Kodogu.

Thanks for the heads up Darrel, this is sad to hear, such an unfortunate, yet compulsory part of life.

 

This does explain a few things in relation to his ebay account status, the previous mass selling of his Tsuba, and the self statement of his latest book being his last. Hopefully everyone who has a piece of his collection (I am included in this) can keep his care tenure in the provenance of their peice.

Sale of Japanese Tsuba and Tosogu is a Facebook site with about 1400 members. It’s based in Japan but has an English format.

That is very sad news and l pass my sincere condolences to Mr Murtha's family. Gary's books are an invaluable resource particularly when l first started collecting.  He also provided with with advice and l purchased my first tsuba from him.

Very sad to hear Gary has left us. I treasure my collection of his books.

It was so sad to hear of Gary's passing.  I have two books by him on tsuba. I purchase both off eBay from him directly.
