Bob61 Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 Hello Gentleman Thank you once again for letting me join this fantastic forum. I have had nothing but a very positive experience with this forum and I truly appreciate all the help I have received. I am once again asking if anyone could be kind enough to direct me in valuing the above sword. It is more than likely gimei. The information that I have been given on the signature is Nagasone Nyudo Okisato and was purchased more than likely through Bob Lightner in Florida. It is in good polish and comes with a plain shirasaya. I realize that the prices between an original and a fake are significant, so any help would be appreciated. I am attaching google drive photos as there are quite a few. Thanking you all once again, Cheers Bob https://drive.google...gfFseHDb?usp=sharing https://drive.google...OPtwfIWC?usp=sharing Quote
Mark Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 the oshigata is upside down so hard to see.......... Bob was knowledgeable. He bought thousands of swords so knew what he had. The chances it is a good signature is very very small. Bob surley had it checked maybe it has been to shinsa or the NBTHK may have seen the oshigata. you could submit to a US shinsa if you wish, there is one in June Quote
Bob61 Posted November 17, 2023 Author Report Posted November 17, 2023 Hi Mark Thank you for your response. I have fixed the problem, I hope in the google drive files, thanks for that. I am no expert, by far! Yes, Bob was on another level! He was a friend of my wife's late husband, this is her collection now. Her husband bought almost all his swords from Bob. I'm pretty sure this is gimei, as I have asked my wife and she was fully involved with the collection. I do understand about getting things papered, however, her husband was not big on this. At this time, I am looking to sell it, however, I do have other blades in the collection. This has been an issue, as I am dealing with a number of swords. Thank you for your help in regards to this, I will try to further research this. Cheers and thanks, Bob Quote
