It depends on the polish condition.

Fresh polish - Shira saya.

If the blade is in good condition in its original Koshirae no new shira saya needed.

A new blade which comes with Koshirae need no shira saya.

If the blade comes with shira saya - you should store it in it. You can present the Koshirae on a kake.

AFAIK, If both are available, shirasaya is always the safe and preferable option

In a year and a half or so. They still need to be made.

For storing a new authentic sword, the choice between koshirae (saya) and shirasaya depends on your preference for display and preservation. If you value showcasing its traditional beauty, opt for a koshirae with its ornate fittings and lacquered scabbard. However, if long-term preservation is paramount, a shirasaya's plain wooden scabbard and handle offer a more minimalist, protective option. As for a (junk link removed) katana recommendation, it's advisable to consult a reputable swordsmith or specialized retailer who can tailor a blade to your specific preferences and needs, ensuring a unique and high-quality piece.

Oh, we are getting plenty of these spam registrations pretending to post something relevant just just advertising some junk.
They sometimes lie in wait for a while, then edit their posts to add the advert. But I have a 6th sense about these guys, as soon as I see a post with general non specific content, I just ban their accounts. Like I am about to do with "Alfie"
Spammers, there is NO point. This forum is moderated hourly. You are wasting your time.
