The blade is saiba. I've seen oshigata of this one many times, and it is a interesting piece but unfortunately not intact (yaki-naoshi). 

 

And having a replacement juyo document is not the same as having the original (the replacement is not always considered equivalent by collectors who often like to have the original papers).
