These same markings are also located on the inside of the saya. There is no signature on the nakago. The mountings are all that of a WWII Japanese officers sword.

Awesome thanks for the info guys. The story goes that a college professor got it from Japan and I spotted it in the corner of an estate sale store. Paid $75 for it about 15 years ago. Cool forum I'll try to get a full image of the blade uploaded soon. There are some small dinks in one spot along the edge and a micro bend at the tip of the blade. Any recommendations on who to turn to if a blade repair is possible one day?

This would be the customers requests, usually these are on interesting swords so look forward to the additional pictures.
