den70 Posted October 9, 2023 Report Posted October 9, 2023 I would like to buy this sword, but I don't have much information. Can you tell me something based on these photos. The seller says the sword was made in 1941 by Katsumasa. Thanks for the help. Quote
John C Posted October 9, 2023 Report Posted October 9, 2023 First thing is that I think the date is 1945 (2 X 10 = Showa 20) rather than 1941. John C. 1 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 9, 2023 Report Posted October 9, 2023 The style is a contingency version of the Type 98 officer sword. It had no official designated name, but you will find many discussions if you search Type 44, Type 3, Type 00, Marine Landing sword, or Rinji Seishiki.
