cdrcm12 Posted September 22, 2023 Report Posted September 22, 2023 Hi, As mentioned in the Tomotsuru thread I picked up this small, what I think is Nara school, tsuba, maybe Ko or Mito? I believe the theme is autumn flowers, akakusa, with the moon over clouds. Dimensions: 62mm X 59mm 4mm at Mimi, 3.3mm at seppa dai I like the symmetrical tagane around the nakago ana. 5 Quote
Curran Posted September 22, 2023 Report Posted September 22, 2023 Ko-Nara tends to be finely worked iron sukashi. Mito would be a better bet. 1 1 Quote

Spartancrest Posted September 23, 2023 Report Posted September 23, 2023 Strictly concentrating on the punch marks - not the school. Very similar "Butterfly" tagane-ato [I just made that term up ] They do look like half a butterfly each side. https://liverpoolmil.../shop.php?code=51029 maybe a bit more 'Moth'-like? https://shogunsgalle...h-stamped-gold-inlay 1 Quote
cdrcm12 Posted September 23, 2023 Author Report Posted September 23, 2023 Thanks Dale, butterfly seems appropriate given the flowers 😊. I wondered if the punch marks were from a specific tool on the tsuba I have, as they seem to be made from a single blow? There are slight nuances with each one. 1 Quote
