ribendao Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 Hello this is one of two blades I recently purchased at an auction. I was hoping to get some of y’all’s opinions on it. Despite my best attempts I was unable to get a good photo of the hamon, but I will include what I have. The hamon appears to be Choji-midare (my best guess). The blade appears flat without shinogi. Koshirae is in rough shape but is decorated with the Kamon of the Toyatomi clan. Please forgive me as I haven’t studied nihonto in a while and forgot many of the Japanese terms. Sori length- 16.5 inches Tip to Mune- machi- 12.5” looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts if they feel included to comment. thank you. 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 As I said in your previous post this is a very Soshu looking blade (irrespective of the mei). If this isn't a kodai Hiromi, then it still may be along the same lines of Sue-Soshu / Shimada. 1 Quote

Ray Singer Posted September 20, 2023 Report Posted September 20, 2023 Definitely, I wouid start there to see if it passes as kodai (later generation) Hiromitsu, and if it does not pass you can decide whether to remove the mei and resubmit or leave as is 1 Quote
