EricM Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Hi all Do you have examples of tsuka made with 4mm silk tsuka ito ? (I think it is not that common) I found a nice example at http://www.tsukamaki.net/gallery.htm# Would be great to see other examples. I have a few tsuka I would like to have repaired so well I am looking at the different possibilities. Jabara ito is really really nice as well. Thx in advance Quote
drbvac Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Heres another "I think" but actually it may be 2mm Quote
EricM Posted September 27, 2009 Author Report Posted September 27, 2009 Very nice Guess it must be jabara ito in 1,5mm (I don't think 2mm exists) What about 4mm silk ito ? ;o) Quote
Tokaido Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Hello Eric, this tsuka has a 4.5 mm tsuka ito. I guess it dates from late Edo/Meiji period. Greetings Andreas PS: of couse this is NOT a piece of art. The quality of the fittings is not high and the silk ito is thin, but in my opinion it is collectible as piece of history. It well show the workmanship in medium quality pieces made for low ranking soldiers or for souveniers. Quote
