kogatana and kogai where mounted on the katana or wakizashi and if so on which side of the sword.

https://en.wikipedia...nese_sword_mountings -" Kōgai (笄): The kōgai is a spike for hair arranging carried sometimes as part of katana-koshirae in another pocket."

Both the Kogai and Kozuka/Kogatana would be carried on the Wakizashi and equally could be carried on the Katana depending on the Koshirae (拵え). Tachi normally don't have either, unless they are relatively "new" and revival pieces.

You will mostly see both Kogai and Kozuka hitsu-ana on Wakizashi tsuba and often only one hitsu on the Katana but there are no hard and fast rules.

Thanks I already thought that it would mostly go on the wakizashi.
Would you happen to know if the nakago of the kogatana needs to have a specific form? I have a kozoku that I bought along with the fuchi kashira as in a set and I'm wondering if they are all the same and will fit and then,  how is it kept in the kozuka?
I have asked my supplier if the smith could provide the kogatana as well but this doesn't seem to be straight forward.
