Are the same listing on yahoo auction.

Never cared for jauce

Jauce is expensive with their fees, I just find it easier to navigate their searches of what they are selling. If you take the code numbers from the last backslash [ / ] and insert them into Yahoo or  Buyee auctions, you will come up with the same item and bid on whichever platform you find suits you best.

https://buyee.jp/ite.../auction/g1107835756   It is the last bit of the link g1107835756 which is the specific item, probably more auction sites will accept the code but I don't know them.

I hate ther white on white very hard to read with my eyes.

Just for GP I typed in moon tsuba

And it gave a Search. Can't do that on yahoo/buyee

Good to know about fees I'd never use them.

Buyee has more about item feature

So good to search but not to buy for me.

Thanks, spartagus, and Mr Ed.

Nice Habaki but I can get it cheaper [half the price] on Jauce https://www.jauce.com/auction/p1107999384 and an extra one!  [something tells me these are not old] :rotfl:

I in fact did find it there and did the number search on buyee.

BTW not the same habaki.

My link shows a full moon on other side.

And state it's modern...

Soooo 😆 😂 😆

I bought this little tanto two months ago - it only arrived today - gave it a quick clean and discovered under the dirt and rust a hidden little silver Moon breaking through the clouds.

It was just another blob on the auction images, though the focus is a lot better than my cheap camera can manage!

This tanto guard of mine is 55 mm in height and I estimate the moon is a little over 2 mm across. Phil Fellman has posted two larger guards back on the 16th of September, which look very small as well.  So a question - what is the smallest moon we have seen on a tsuba?

Smallest? This one??

Wow could he afford so much gold? :o

[Are you sure it isn't a crumb left over from a biscuit? ]  Hey I thought the moon was supposed to be silver!

Whatever happened to the good old days when the moon was made of cheese - [never been a fan of green cheese, let alone grey cheese!]

Hello all!

Well these are the ones I have.  (moon - two views of the same tsuba, moon and goose, moon and sun).  I know, far from museum quality!  But hey, they work for my modest collectiion.  Hurrah!

With respect,

Dan

Wow. Quite the retro thread. Weird to read things I wrote 11 years ago.

This thread also made me realize that I only have 1 tsuba with a moon on it. This surprised me, because I like moon themes. Nice thread.

Tony does it have waves on the omote? A similar guard from the D.Z. Norton collection. This particular guard is something of a mystery as it is listed as being 'gifted' to the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1920 - but it fails to turn up in searches of that Museums collection now - where did it go?

This has captured my imagination for decades:

"Signed Iwamoto Konkan"

You can find the 'Kitsune' guard in the V&A on a mounted sword - I don't think they show the guard separately https://collections..../sword-scabbard-and/

"The sword's hand guard, the tsuba, is decorated with a design of a magic fox at moonlight using dark shibuichi, an alloy of copper and silver normally patinated to give a wide variety of colours."

The guard might be shown somewhere amongst the 3,389 tsuba and fittings here https://collections....&page=1&page_size=50  My eyes were burning after the first thousand!

No great treasure but I like it , the first tsuba I purchased many years ago from a shop on Kensington high street I paid two hundred and twenty pounds if recall correctly.
