What's a good price for a short 69 cm edo period tachi with a Tokubetsu Hozon paper?

Hi all! I'm very much interested in getting a tachi, and while this one isn't ideal for being rather short for a tachi as far as I understand it at 69cm, and also isn't ideal for being rather newer for a tachi in the Edo period rather than something Koto or earlier, it sure is cheaper than pretty much everything else out there I can find (aka nothing) with a tokubetsu hozon paper...so - what do you all think? Is this worth buying at all, and if so, what would you peg as a fair price for this?

I know daimyou54eb accepts lowball offers (from the time one hour ago when I lowballed him $1400 on a $2000 katana thinking there was no way he'd accept and he did, and reading past posts I'm seeing someone lowballed him $1200 on a $1900 and he also accepted so...), so I'm guessing I can get this at least a thousand off the price listed here, if not more - curious what you'd all actually find to be a fair price though!

 

And if this even really qualifies as a tachi versus a katana...the curvature seems rather slight well within katana standards as does the length (1.5 cm sori, 69 cm nagasa...)...is this...just a katana? Lol

This is not a tachi. It is a shinto katana. It is papered as a katana.

As Thomas and Ray have said, the nakago is signed as a katana. The paper also attests to this being a katana. Being in shirasaya there is not a koshirae making it look to be a tachi. The seller is 100% incorrect as to listing this as a tachi.

I underatand the lure of obtaining a tachi. I have been collecting for nearly 25 years and just recently obtained a koto period tachi in Edo period tachi mounts from @mdiddy at the Chicago show. Matt was also at the Las Vegas show earlier this year, as well as other great vendors. Just a recommendation,

Enjoy the few you have now, and bring them to the Vegas show. You may be able to sell them or trade them towards a piece or a few pieces you will really love and appreciate.
