Hi Andrew,

Don't know what you consider reasonable for a drive but there is the show in Las Vegas next January. There you can get opinions on your sword.

Grey

So i should plan on telling my wife now i must go to Vegas in January. I feel this is justified except i haven't broken to her yet that i've bought 3 in the last month because this is rather addicting. :phew:

As most shinto nie Sendai nie tends to be of the same size, Hosho varies within the blade.

Show me where you see nie and chikei on the sword object tof that topic

Hosho work tends to be more non-uniform, the width of masame varies, Sendai is very uniform.

Prove it please.

Some Hosho lineages practice a mixture of masame with Awataguchi level very fine itame, there are some Sendai smiths who could do that as well.

Show me a papered example please

Andrew @

I would add Hosho tachi are extremely rare. Oh, is the mune nakago kaku (flat) ?

The file marks on the Nakago look to be straight across as well on my piece. Not sure if that says anything different either.

The sword I've linked to is a Shinto sword (Sendai Kunikane), not a Hosho sword, so the yasurime don't have to be higaki.

The nakago mune of a Hosho sword must be round.

I believe this is true(Sendai Kunikane). As i research more this seems to be the case.
