Hello,

Let me start by saying i'm new to collecting. I saw this piece and was fascinated by it. Would love your opinions on era along with estimated value. It does have an NBHTK certificate which i will post after people weigh in. I'll also post what i've been told when i purchased it.  I feel it is highly collectible and monetarily could be rather valuable but again would love your views. Thank you very much for your time and sorry if the pictures aren't the greatest as i'm just using my phone.

Thanks,

There not bad pix...it's better to show nakago down  blade up.

And a background not so busy it takes the eye away.  Nice fabric tho.

Better than I  kantai folk may get a read on it. Personally I think you made a good choice.

It seems to be a nice sword. I took a look on sayagaki and I think with the features seen it might be a good call to make. If you have attribution by modern NBTHK that is a match, then congrats as the school seems to be highly desired by collectors. Unfortunately in the market modern NBTHK papers are mostly setting the pricing standard.

I don't quite understand. What is a good call to make?  What would modern NBTHK mean? I believe this one is from the 70's and Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho

G'day Andrew,

Your blade looks very promising. Are you able to post a shot of the boshi like this? Unfortunately older NBTHK papers like yours are no longer viewed as being reliable. That doesn't automatically mean the attribution is wrong though.

Cheers,

Bryce
