kissakai Posted August 22, 2023 Report Posted August 22, 2023 I didn't want to high jack the excellent naginata post already 'running' Looking through the last post, does this look like a Nanbokuchō naginata or Edo? Quote
Toryu2020 Posted August 22, 2023 Report Posted August 22, 2023 Edo - deeper curve and broader in the monouchi is a sign of later manufacture... 1 Quote
Moritsuchi Posted August 22, 2023 Report Posted August 22, 2023 What about the nagasa, can it also be viewed as a general trend that they become shorter as time goes on? The ones @Jussi Ekholm has in his presentation from Kamakura and Nambokucho all have blade lengths of ~70-90cm, with equally long nakago. The ones from Edo I saw were only around 40cm in blade length 1 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted August 22, 2023 Report Posted August 22, 2023 I would feel the same way as Thomas on this Quote
kissakai Posted August 24, 2023 Author Report Posted August 24, 2023 I'm making a couple of seppa so had a better look The nakago shouts Edo and certainly no earlier Quote
