ROKUJURO Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 Eric, HIROMITSU and 1944, April (?). You can make reading easier by showing the NAKAGO tip-upwards. 1 1 Quote
Ooitame Posted August 19, 2023 Author Report Posted August 19, 2023 @ROKUJURO I believe you nailed it! Apologizes I should have rotated the images. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 Uwe, that may well be. My eyes are not the best, unfortunately. 1 Quote
Kiipu Posted August 19, 2023 Report Posted August 19, 2023 And putting it all together, one gets the following. 廣光 = Hiromitsu. 昭和二十年四月 = 1945 April. I suppose it is a late war Type 100 with inspection marks? 1 Quote
Ooitame Posted August 20, 2023 Author Report Posted August 20, 2023 @Kiipu Yes late war type 100 with upside down Gifu. Thank you, I believe this stamp and smith are 50/50 in traditional vs non traditionally made? Quote
Kiipu Posted August 20, 2023 Report Posted August 20, 2023 Hiromitsu was a Seki swordsmith. Considering this is a late war Type 100 it is probably just a machine made blade. Is this the same Gifu marked sword that you posted pictures of in the "Arsenal Stamps." thread? If so, calling @Bruce Pennington. 1 Quote
Ooitame Posted August 20, 2023 Author Report Posted August 20, 2023 @Kiipu thank you, that is correct. 1 Quote
EastCoast Posted August 26, 2023 Report Posted August 26, 2023 Just a little back story. Was going to hold on to this information for a little bit, but I'd thought I'd share. I'll post a full thread later. I've found an out of the way little town that is loaded with trophies from the war. I've already seen Kamakura forward.... all untouched since the war! Also a ton of Nazi artifacts. It's a historical goldmine! 2 Quote
DTM72 Posted August 29, 2023 Report Posted August 29, 2023 @EastCoast Not sure where you are located on the East coast but I, and other members, are on the east coast as well. Feel free to keep posting your finds or message directly. Love to hear about discoveries like this! Quote
