Matsunoki Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 At that price I’d expect a daisho…..which from what I can see this isn’t. Fuchi don’t match kashira, kashira don’t match each other, wakizashi blade not even shown, tsuba look heavily rusted at best or at worst….cast. Obviously recently rewrapped. Not much there that makes them a daisho …..just my opinion🙂 Quote
Alex A Posted August 6, 2023 Author Report Posted August 6, 2023 Aye, expected high end fittings for that price. Quote
Matsunoki Posted August 6, 2023 Report Posted August 6, 2023 Once I “get the bit between my teeth”🙂…… OK, so, the parchment was attached to the tsuka underneath the (old?) ito. Why then does it not have the usual grubby diamond marks all over it that are clearly visible around it on the same? Quite a puzzle. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted August 7, 2023 Report Posted August 7, 2023 Check the back of that paper, you may find very auspicious racing fixtures..... 2 Quote
Scogg Posted August 7, 2023 Report Posted August 7, 2023 Here’s an interesting story featuring a blade https://ktvl.com/new...r-wilderness-respect 1 Quote
Alex A Posted August 13, 2023 Author Report Posted August 13, 2023 Stumble across this "daisho" (lets not go down that road again) Anyways, bit of a story from the seller and thought if there was some provenance along with the blades, i could accept the condition and be an happy owner. For someone that wants a cheap display set and is not concerned about faults etc, at this price it could be perfect, doubt you will find anything cheaper. https://www.nipponto...swords9/KT338101.htm Quote
