Volker those where different in size and wide.

The best is to know which kind of type 3 and which blade are in it. Then look for an example meassurements of a another collectors sword to find the right one.  Good luck for the search.

T'ks a lot Chris

Unforunately  I haven't held  any of these screws in my hands 'til today .....

So I'll measure the handle and the hole internal dimensions.

This sword comes  from a prominent collection, the previous owner, who owned this sword for almost 50 years, told me

that he threw away this ugly screw....

The blade in this type 3 gunto koshirae which is like new,(only the original screw is away)was made by Okishiba Masakuni

I've already presented this sword here and am  currently  its happy protector.

To get the screw is a real pain Volker i have made this 2 times and at the end i found the right on but i had 4 more which not fit and i doubt that these was ever in a type 3. I sold them further. I paid around $100 to find the 2 inklusive selling the ones i can't use.

I think the next time i will go to a blacksmith nearby and ask him to made a iron screw for me. That would be much cheaper when you know the measurement and the drill. I like the old flat head design of the screws in the akihisa type 3. The screw must fit in the inlet of the tsuka. Modern screws didn't fit - i test it all.

Thats only a rough measurement

I think it is the straight round head type. Not that conus ones with the flat head (like akihisa, nagamitsu, etc.). Volker did you have other type 3 with screws? You can try which on would fit.
