Think it's time to start putting some pressure on my boss to send me to SHOT Show 2024. Then I get to attend this show afterwards.
Hmm....need to pick up some new agencies. May very well be possible.

Just got my room.  Last year hotel talked us into a special deal to get us to think about a timeshare… WHICH WE DID NOT DO!!!  We did take the last single trip deal they offered  but it was a painful process.  I recommend if ANYONE offers you a free breakfast for a little of your time DO NOT GO!!! :rotfl:  You have to be strong-willed to say NO and they waste a bunch of your time.  See everyone there.

My father was a very wise man who taught me, "nothing is free." The first lie they tell you is, it's just 60 or 90 minutes. <-- complete B.S. Glad you survived Mark! Those sales people are all over the downtown area of where I live. I have NO problem telling them NO!!!

Trying to arrange going to this show again. Had a great time earlier this year.

I'm nudging the boss to consider a trip to the SHOT Show. Let's see... :)
PS - Actually DO need to attend, we need more agencies next year. So hopefully they know I'm good at clinching deals there. 2 Shows makes it an awesome trip.

here is the front of the Antique Arms show flyer. They are promoting the Japanese Sword section and there are some great pictures from last year. They want to grow the Japanese section so 2024 should be great

Last year there were several other gun shows in the city the same weekend. If you plan to attend I would check the dates of other venues to see while there.

Well....looks like I may indeed be at SHOT. Which means the sword show. Will likely leave the 28th. Gonna be amazing to do another US sword show.
So let's see who will be attending? Who's going?
Love to do a dinner if there is time. My budget is so shot from SF....no idea how I'm going to pay for this...lol. But can't miss this chance.

At least Vegas is more affordable than SF. That's if you stay away from the slots of course

I wish I could make it this year. Maybe next year

Mark,

The hotel website is saying

Reservations are closed

We're sorry.
This event is now closed to new reservations.
Due to the proximity of the event dates, please contact your desired hotel directly regarding availability also for changes & cancels. Contact information, if available, is below.

Is this an error? I was about to book everything this morning. Without the group rate, the rooms are $346 a night! This would be a trip killer for me.

not sure what you are doing........ i just checked the link i posted https://book.passkey.com/event/50492676/owner/3453/home

it allowed me to make a reservation at the show rate. are you sure you used the right link (not the one from last year)?

If you have trouble contact me and i will help, there are plenty of rooms at show rate

if calling the hotel (I do NOT recommend as online is much easier)  the Group code is: SAAS4R

please let me know it worked for you

thanks

Thinking of going to this. Had a good time at the SF show and met a number of people I've only seen on the forum. I was also to pick up a few good books for good prices.

I’m going… keep me in the loop for dinner or at least let me buy you an adult beverage!

It's touch and go right now. Place booked, boss is taking 7 staff. But isn't too keen on me bringing Nicky with, and I'm not keen on going without her. No fun spending time with the youngsters from work, or traveling around alone. I planned on doing a few days in another city to make it a bit of a vacation, but certainly not alone. Going to cost me a lot, and not making it a shared trip would kill any chance of Japan sometime, without even getting a few days vacation out of it.
I guess I'm going into haggle mode, if I can pay for her to come, I'll be there.

When I go to the website and see the flier, and click on the "Westgate Resort & Casino" below the "January 26 & 27, 2024" I get the "Reservations are Closed" message.

When I follow the link provided above, everything is fine.

Many thanks!

Mark,

If you click "WESTGATE RESORT & CASINO" it gives the error.

If you click "Reserve click here Show rate $108 for regular room $125 for deluxe room" everything is good.

I just made my reservation this morning, and booked my flight last night. Unfortunately, for me, I have a very important meeting on Thursday that I cannot miss. I will be flying on Friday and arriving around 11:30am, then Uber to the show.

Looks like I'm set, myself and Nix will do SHOT, then the sword show Fri and Saturday, then off to New Orleans for a few days vacation and to check it out.
I'm so deep in the hole, a ladder wouldn't get me out of this...lol. Didn't plan for 2 USA trips in 6 months. But gonna be great.
Who is doing the show...and anyone in the industry also doing SHOT?
Any members near New Orleans?

The wife and I are 100% available for dinner one night. There is a good hibachi and sushi place inside the resort with small intimate tables, or large banquet rooms that overlook the gardens and ponds. Saki anyone?

How about Friday? Either night works for us though. Added some pics to my post above. Wear your best samurai kimono and kamishimo for some good pics. lol
