Guest Simon R Posted July 9, 2023 Report Posted July 9, 2023 Have a pesky gimei? No problem - just call in Bubba with his Walmart wood file. The shinsa will never even notice! https://www.ebay.com/itm/275622817819 Quote
Baba Yaga Posted July 9, 2023 Report Posted July 9, 2023 I've seen worse. A least someone used a file and not a high speed grinder. Quote

lonely panet Posted July 10, 2023 Report Posted July 10, 2023 looks like a gendai area removal. so thats a good guestion for a gendai Quote
Mister Gunto Posted July 13, 2023 Report Posted July 13, 2023 Yikes! Makes me wonder if it's a wartime Showato with the Showa date and 2-Mei signature removed. As well as the end of the nakago ground away, and a fake "semi mekugi-ana hole" added to make it look as if it's a suriage older blade. Quote
Baba Yaga Posted July 13, 2023 Report Posted July 13, 2023 What's a fake? Forgeries are meant to deceive experts who authenticate / certify art. They're not meant to deceive your average collector who has a bunch of books. The Chinses junk is meant to deceive Not collectors, but none educated treasure hunters. Please don't tell me how good the Chinese Junk is getting and how it fooled someone. I don't care, it's not my thing. Most of the Gimei I see on authentic Nihonto is so far out of sho-shin context, one does wonder what the purpose was. I have my own theories, but they are just that. Quote
