Any ideas what this represents?

 

I guess it was to cover up kizu but is it meaningful to anyone?

It looks like a buddhist flaming jewel (called hōju - 宝珠 - or various other things) inside a flame (or clouds?).

Its a reasonably common theme. There was a tsuba posted here on the forum a week or two ago with this theme on it.
