The maker is a bit of a mystery, and haven't found any of the smiths using that name that worked in hitatsura. I expect it's a shinshinto, but don't know any more than that.
Anyways, just for interest, here are some pics of the fittings. I like them. Menuki are lovely. Who is the guy behind the parasol or jingasa showing just his feet? I seem to remember something about an oni or something?
Then we have a kurigata showing a spider with a mouse peering at him.
Interesting hitatsura in good polish. Lots of activities and nie. Maybe naively uncontrolled? Not sure.
Anyways, this one was off to SF for sale, but I asked the owner if I can buy it. Need something new in my collection.

I will be too old to buy and enjoy this tanto by the time your estate sells it ......................................................:laughing:
