dirk marshall Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Bought this inexpensive wak that has a different but nice looking habaki. Do you know what the style is called, any ideas as to its age or quality? Quote
Henry Wilson Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Nothing to add but I was thinking about the exact same style as it is on this sword. http://www.nihonto.com/rh441.html I too would love to know more about the style of habaki Quote
Ted Tenold Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 This design is called "Botan Yujo" or "Botan Yujo Yasuri". The design resembles peonies (Botan). I am not aware of this being indicative of any particular region. Many styles of habaki are such as Higo, Osaka, and Kaga styles. Gassan Sadakazu often made silver habaki for his swords and he favored this pattern. Quote
