Jon Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 I was wondering what people think of this blade and Koshirae. I do really like the koshirae, but they look very shiny and new ? It’s in an auction with almost no information other than it’s a Shinto blade. Quote
Brian Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 It's nice work. Above average fittings. Can easily see that being a Shinto. Nothing wrong with the fittings, they are genuine and decent. 1 Quote
ChrisW Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 Looks good to me! I especially like the fuchi, kashira, and tsuba. Quote
Jon Posted July 4, 2023 Author Report Posted July 4, 2023 I was hoping everyone would think the fitttings were genuine as I really like this Koshirae a lot and was planning to put down a low four figure bid. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 TSUKA-ITO looks new. The KOSHIRAE was probably renovated/cleaned a bit. The blade is obviously genuine, but looking at the NAKAGO it seems to be late, perhaps MEIJI? 1 Quote

It just look so Pretty, that as long as it genuine I would like it for my glass display cabinet (locked) as a discussion piece ( not hidden away like my other blades ). Quote
SteveM Posted July 4, 2023 Report Posted July 4, 2023 Small blade says 日本鍛冶宗匠 Nihon kaji sōshō 伊賀守金道作 Iga-no-kami Kinmichi saku There are a few threads on this smith here on the forum. But as you may know, inscriptions on kogatana are often inscribed as an homage to famous smiths, rather than genuine signatures from the smiths themselves. Quote
