b.hennick Posted June 14, 2023 Report Posted June 14, 2023 Hello fellow forumites: I have a tsuba signed Kaneie and Yamashiro no Kuni Fushimi no Ju.There are two characters on the upper right side that exist because the material has been removed from the area around the characters. What do those characters mean? Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 14, 2023 Report Posted June 14, 2023 意味は人間が本来もっている心そのままが仏であることという禅語です This explanation comes from a discussion about a fan with 4 characters on it, here https://www.bokushinan.com/post/_緑水青山 It says: “This is a Zen saying that the human heart in its original natural state is the Buddha.” 2 Quote
b.hennick Posted June 16, 2023 Author Report Posted June 16, 2023 Hi Piers could the tsuba be a part of a daisho with the other tsuba having the characters for Ayoyama? 1 Quote
