Guest Simon R Posted June 13, 2023 Report Posted June 13, 2023 Two new chawan I picked up this week. The first is a classic kuro Raku bowl, the glaze of which has just started to settle down to that nice muted, aged appearance despite this being a modern piece. The second (pictured in front of the wooden box) is Bizen-yaki, made around 1988. Simon Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 13, 2023 Report Posted June 13, 2023 Simon, congratulations! In my opinion, both are very beautiful CHAWAN! My favourite would be the BIZEN one, though. Functional, temperate: outstanding. Quote
Fuuten Posted June 15, 2023 Report Posted June 15, 2023 The Raku bowl almost likens itself to lacquer ware chawan. Any chance you know who made them? Thanks for sharing. Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 22, 2023 Report Posted June 22, 2023 Axel, the RAKU CHAWAN has a good seal stamp which I think reads MITSUYUKI. But I am not an expert! Quote

ROKUJURO Posted November 16, 2023 Report Posted November 16, 2023 Thank you! Wrong again, as most of the time, but learning! Quote
