Kurikata Posted June 6, 2023 Report Posted June 6, 2023 Please, I have the signature (NoriYuki) but what is the meaning of the 4 first Kanji: 70 years old ? Thank you Bruno Quote
John C Posted June 6, 2023 Report Posted June 6, 2023 Bruno: Not sure if it is the case here, however I know some other smiths would include their age at the time they made the blade. Does that fit in with the date? John C. Quote
Kurikata Posted June 7, 2023 Author Report Posted June 7, 2023 Yes John, This Kozuka was made when Noriyuki (2nd generation) was 76. Knowing he died at 82 in 1852, in deduction the kozuka was made in 1846. Thank you Bruno Quote
