Alex A Posted May 26, 2023 Report Posted May 26, 2023 I like this guys vids because he really knows his antique blades (of all types) and explains how they were used. Good vid, especially for folk not too clued up on the use of such weapons. 2 1 Quote
OceanoNox Posted May 26, 2023 Report Posted May 26, 2023 For use of such weapons, yari is still taught in the hozoin and the owari kan ryu. Naginata is taught in modern naginata, similarly to kendo, but is taught in tendo ryu and also tenshin shoden katori shinto ryu. Tendo is interesting, because they teach the naginata with a tanto in the belt, so when the distance is too close, they drop the naginata and fight with the tanto. Quote
Baba Yaga Posted May 26, 2023 Report Posted May 26, 2023 Good video! Explains why I've seen broken Yari Nakago and the enhancement of the collar. Quote
kissakai Posted May 27, 2023 Report Posted May 27, 2023 Well worth a watch - thanks I also liked his clear delivery of this subject Quote
Alex A Posted May 27, 2023 Author Report Posted May 27, 2023 Cheers Grev. He really does do his research and sits on the fence with stuff he is not sure about. Not just limited to edged weapons, he has also done some very informative vids on some firearms and their use in battles. The last bunch he talks about, i didn't know they were mainly used for law enforcement. Think i saw something similar at the Royal Armouries, from memory. Quote
