Bryce Posted May 20, 2023 Report Posted May 20, 2023 G'day Guys, The following are from a shin gunto koshirae made for a Gassan Sadakatsu blade. The fittings all have these matching markings which I think are 月 2 特. I think the 月 is short for Gassan , 2 an assembly number and 特 something to do with special? Am I on the right track? In addition the tsuka has kanji in purple ink which may have something to do with the maru ni tachibana mon on the kabutogane. Cheers, Bryce Quote
uwe Posted May 20, 2023 Report Posted May 20, 2023 One of the markings (特) on the Seppa is too faint for my eyes, but there seems to be an additional stroke?! So I’ll grab the first in purple, this might be “柄” (tsuka or gara). Although “橘” looks quite similar. Can’t make out the second one… Quote
Bryce Posted May 21, 2023 Author Report Posted May 21, 2023 Thanks Uwe, I agree, there is an additional stroke on the seppa marking. I will try to capture some better images from the other fittings. Cheers, Bryce 1 Quote
Bryce Posted May 22, 2023 Author Report Posted May 22, 2023 G'day Guys, I went thru the rest of the fittings and unfortunately none are any clearer than what I have already posted. Cheers, Bryce Quote
