Jeffo Posted May 19, 2023 Report Posted May 19, 2023 Hey everyone! I've bought a new tsuba. Iam in love with that design. Maybe anybody can tell me a bit more about it? Also there is a sign on the wodden box, maybe anybody has seen that before? Kind regards! Wish you all a great weekend! 1 Quote

Brian Posted May 19, 2023 Report Posted May 19, 2023 Box stamp is just so you can put the lid on the same way each time. They often don't fit well if the lid is rotated. 1 Quote
Jeffo Posted May 19, 2023 Author Report Posted May 19, 2023 Thanks Brian and Ed for your reply. Iam going to check that thread. @Brian yes the box don't match on each side. I thought maybe there is a meaning. Maybe it's a kanji. - On the box they saw a tiny line around, I thought that's for navigation. Quote
SteveM Posted May 19, 2023 Report Posted May 19, 2023 My wild-ish guess is that it says 佐藤 (Satō), one of the most common surnames in Japan. 1 Quote
