Nanbokuchu Posted May 18, 2023 Report Posted May 18, 2023 Should be easy for some. Some pics are with sunlight, others with a lamp overhead. Addig more pics in coming posts. 71 cm. Osuriage mumei. 3 Quote

Nanbokuchu Posted May 20, 2023 Author Report Posted May 20, 2023 Negative on Kanenaga, but a very good call. It's attributed to Ko-Mihara, so the Yamato influence can be seen. Tanobei sensei places it firmly in the Nanbokucho period in his sayagaki. Kasane is a whopping 8 mm so it feels powerful in the hand. 2 Quote
Bazza Posted May 22, 2023 Report Posted May 22, 2023 Jimmie, thanks. Very interested to see this as I have a Nambokuchou Ko Mihara katana with Tanobe sayagaki. Can we see your sayagaki, please? BaZZa. 1 Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted May 23, 2023 Report Posted May 23, 2023 Can you share the translation? Looks like the final book of "Game of Thrones" was finished 😀 Quote

If that is my former Ko-Mihara, glad it is still in good hands 1 Quote

Looks like the final book of "Game of Thrones" was finished 😀 Currently trying to make out the characters, but my ignorance of this type of handwriting is all too evident. This is the translation provided by aoiart (with added characters): 備後国古三原 大擦上無銘也 南北朝中期の勇健なる肢態に白気映りが伴い板目流れる肌合いに質朴なる板目流れる直刃を焼いて帽子には滝落とし風が見て取れるなど特色が特色を明示し雅 味豊かな優品なり 長さ二尺三寸七分弱有し 探山識(花押) "Bingo Kuni Komihara Osuriage Mumei. Powerful and proud shaped of the mid Nambokucho period. Shirakeutsuri appears. Itame flows and Suguha Hamon comes up. Takiotoshi-ish Hamon is visible in Boshi. Every characteristic is classic. Length 2 Shaku 3 Sun 7 Bu. Written by Tanzan" It's not the most beautiful piece, but I like it alot. Gives a powerful impression when I study it, and the hamon seems very controlled. In person the hataraki and utsuri shows but it's pretty hard to photograph. There appears to be some masame along the ha and in a darkened room with small directed light the activities really comes out in person. 2 Quote
DoTanuki yokai Posted May 25, 2023 Report Posted May 25, 2023 I tried to give a guess in this Kantei but did not come closer then Yamato, actually I looked at Ko-Mihara blades but thought the Boshi is wrong. With my lately unlucky guesses here I kept quiet this time Thanks for posting I still have fun doing kantei. 1 Quote
SteveM Posted May 25, 2023 Report Posted May 25, 2023 I took a crack at it. My attempt at translation: Bingo-no-kuni Ko-Mihara. Ōsuriage mumei. Displays the robust shape of the Mid-Nambokuchō period, itame hada with shirake utsuri, a simple, straight hamon, and a “taki-otoshi” bōshi that captures our attention. This is an exquisite work that shows us the features of this school. 2 shaku, 3 sun, 7 bu Autumn, 2019 By Tanzan 2 1 Quote
