Leather covered Tanto

Just picked up another leather covered Tanto. I posted some pictures of my other one in another thread some time ago. Someone cut the top of the leather off for some reason, maybe to slid it back to remove the peg. See the pictures attached. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I am. Also if anyone could give me a translation of the smith it would be greatly appreciated.    MikeR

A fairly scarce item, Michael!  Very rare to see a WWII era tanto.

Thank you Bruce. I really like it. It’s a shame someone cut the top of the leather off but what is there is in great shape
