Oil under habaki?

I am a little confused on where the nakago actually ends. It appears to me that the area under the habaki could either be a part of the blade or nakago. Do you oil in this section? Thanks for thr help!

The nakago ends at the machi but the top of the nakago is polished and should be oiled with the rest of the polished balde, if you are oiling.

Just to add, every once in a while I gently clean the inside of the habaki of old oil with a Q-tip.  Not necessary every time, but I think it’s good to keep it clean on occasion.
