CuriousSwordUser Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 I've been looking for this name for some time now but was never able to find it. I would really appreciate the help if possible. Quote
Geraint Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 Dear T. Could we have a first name to address you by please? Have a check around Kiyonori as a name for your swordsmith. Of course we would like to see pictures of the whole blade please. All the best. Quote
CuriousSwordUser Posted May 12, 2023 Author Report Posted May 12, 2023 Why of course! My name is Tyler, and here are more pictures of the blade per your request. I will state that the Tsuka has been missing for years, Apologies for that. 1 Quote
uwe Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 As Geraint mentioned, Tyler, “清則”. The pictures of the sword revealing not much, except that the blade is suriage (shortened). Have a look here: https://nihontoclub.com/view/smiths/meisearch?type=All&mei_op=contains&mei=清則 Quote
CuriousSwordUser Posted May 12, 2023 Author Report Posted May 12, 2023 I can say that the Hamon has been ground off, I know that the sword wouldn't be worth anything but despite that, I just wanted to know the name, thank you for the guidance. Quote
CuriousSwordUser Posted May 12, 2023 Author Report Posted May 12, 2023 I'm sorry I also forgot to say, The sword was salvaged in ww2 by my great grandfather. I don't know if It could be a hand-me-down. But if I had to guess it's pretty old? 1 Quote
ChrisW Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 It may not be removed completely, just obscured by the grinding indicated. You'd have to get it into the hands of someone more knowledgeable such as a togishi (which is a trained Japanese sword polisher). Quote
CuriousSwordUser Posted May 12, 2023 Author Report Posted May 12, 2023 Thank you for the information Chris, I might have to go get the sword polished then I can determine the Hamon. The Hamon is there but very faint. Quote

CuriousSwordUser Posted May 14, 2023 Author Report Posted May 14, 2023 Thanks a bunch for the info Bruce, I'll go talk to the nihonto guys about it. Quote
