Translation For My Sword

I will state that the Tsuka has been missing for years, Apologies for that.

The pictures of the sword revealing not much, except that the blade is suriage (shortened).

I can say that the Hamon has been ground off, I know that the sword wouldn't be worth anything but despite that,

I just wanted to know the name, thank you for the guidance.

I'm sorry I also forgot to say, The sword was salvaged in ww2 by my great grandfather.

I don't know if It could be a hand-me-down. But if I had to guess it's pretty old?

It may not be removed completely, just obscured by the grinding indicated. You'd have to get it into the hands of someone more knowledgeable such as a togishi (which is a trained Japanese sword polisher).

Thank you for the information Chris, I might have to go get the sword polished then I can determine the Hamon.

The Hamon is there but very faint.

By the darkened patina, I'd say pretty old, but the nihonto guys would have to give you the age estimate.
