Sorry to hear. I had heard of him a few times and know he was well known there.
RIP, and condolences to his friends and family.

RIP Peter , do yourself some great deals in Nihonto heaven.

I used to do a bit of business from time to time with him - sadly, another Character exits the Play...

I'm sorry to say that I missed this post.

I've bought many tsuba etc from Peter and regarded him as a friend who I've known since the late 1970's

Sadly missed

Just seen this.  I knew Peter from the late sixties onwards.  In those days his trademarks were his old sheepskin jacket and his jet black hair worn in an unusual fashion.  He seemed to be at every auction I ever attended, from the very best in London to the local scout hut in the middle of nowhere.  He came to my home several times over the years and I sold him a number of swords. His love of swords was only exceeded by his love for his dogs.  My wife and I visited him one Sunday, between showing me his swords he was busy cooking a huge roast chicken for them.  I couldn't help but notice that they were well overfed.  We didn't always see eye to eye but I found him  a most interesting person.

Only just found this post. I’ve known Peter since the early seventies, 70% of my collection came from him, I would look after his table at the Birmingham arm’s fair which gave me the opportunity to see all the blades.. we had some good times, he will be greatly missed within the sword fraternity, I was not informed of the funeral date and so missed it.

god bless you Peter 😢😢

I don't think anyone knew about the funeral until it was too late

I too have looked after his table whilst he had a look round

At the fair last Sunday I was going to show him these

R.I.P. I new Peter Yorke, Quite well and spoke to him at the Motor Cycle Musiem often.

He was a great believer in the three "P"s (Payup, Pickup, and P#ss off) I suppose cash is King after all.

I was supposed to Pickup a sword from him at the last show there. Mick

Does anyone know what happened to his Collection? I was told that the Gardener took them all? (A Window).

I was told that the house was stripped very fast.

I thought about how greedy people, friends, relatives etc can be.

Later thinking later about Peter and his love of animals especially dogs and horse it could have left it all to a dogs home!

I was interested in a sword because of it's wonderful koshirae and we had talked prices but never mind

Just a thought

No as he was very anti technology

It took ages to get him to send me an image on the phone

No email etc

He liked to meet face to face to make any purchases or sales

Was Peter a member of the board?  I believe that he was but not under his real name. Either that or someone contributed to discussions on his behalf.

Quite true, I had also talked a price with Peter.... But that's that I suppose.

And he was a cash only guy. So we have lost another sword dealer in the UK. Mick

I just checked my records and I bought just over 30 tsuba from Peter

These are a small selection from Peter. The first one papered to ko Umetada which is a rare attribution from a normally non-committal panel
