This is the collectors dream.   A fantastic kawari, that never pops up for sale, and if they do, don’t dream, they cost a fortune.  So the collector want it to be real,  he is in love and lose all sense for criticism.

by the way, here are the names of one seller who has several yahoo accounts and sells mixed fakes. It's a woman : SAKI NAKATANI ( real name ) , Of course she bids for herself from other accounts. she is definitely part of the counterfeiting group. Uses multiple accounts for sales.

I have seen signed examples by Iwai made from the same form.  The mask that I have on my instagram for sale is from the same school and had a very similar kabuto with it. These types of armor are made with super thick leather. Most of them date to the mid 1800s.

Let me see if I can upload to facebook. You know what Ill put it up on the authentic samurai arms and armor sales page (facebook).  Need to get it sold. ;) 

If somebody wants an excellent example of a leather Iwai Mempo they have a chance!  Most iwai armors have the mempo lost because they are so nice. Then they get replaced with light weight Leather mempo from a different armor......

Anyway, have a look.

 I saw it somewhere recently, maybe even here. If I remember it was sold as a recent product. now someone (probably a Japanese seller) changed the hair (the original looked brand new) and now  it's  EDO from an old important family collection !
