Translation help required!

If you read carefully about the functions of the site, you will be able to post your photos. It is no witchcraft!

Just resize. Lots of free online image resizers, or edit on the phone.

I got in touch with David and am posting photos of his sword on his behalf. Looks like a good naval sword. The military sword guys will be interested in this. Unfortunately there is a scratch across the label attached to the scabbard, so I can't make out what looks to be the owner's name (Ko-something Jirō).

It'll be Ko using 小 (so not Komabayashi). 

小 could also be O, like Ogawa (小川) or Oda (小田). Can't quite make out what that second kanji is on the label.

The obscured Kanji doesn't seem like a good match for "川" in this case.

I would look for something more like 小定 or 小柴 or 

[BANGBANGSAN]

Maybe 小磯 Koiso?
