Mark Posted April 23, 2023 Report Posted April 23, 2023 i have an unusual parade saber. It looks like a Japanese army parade sword. But it clearly has other markings. I checked Dawson's book for Manchuko and colonial but don't see anything like this. thanks mark Quote
Kiipu Posted April 23, 2023 Report Posted April 23, 2023 The markings indicate Chinese use. @BANGBANGSAN should be able to provide a date based upon the flags. One of the markings could have been removed and replaced with another. Quote
Mark Posted April 23, 2023 Author Report Posted April 23, 2023 Thanks. I had thought there was a Chinese connection. That's why I checked Dawson's book. I don't think i have seen these markings before. It appears Japanese made as the handle blade and scabbard all resemble a standard parade Saber other than the markings I appreciate the help Quote
BANGBANGSAN Posted April 23, 2023 Report Posted April 23, 2023 It looks like a sword used by a Nationalist China officer. This particular sword has a style based on the Japanese Type 19 Kyu Gunto. Are there any marks on the blade or the handguard? Quote
Mark Posted April 23, 2023 Author Report Posted April 23, 2023 There are no markings that I can see. Here are pictures I appreciate the help Quote
