I inherited a naval dirk from my grandfathers collection, the koshirae is in pristine condition. But the blade has a hagire and is a gimei of a big name. So the value of it is mainly in the koshirae. Any thoughts? 2F9CAE11-EED4-4435-AE72-4A6CD92B4DEB.thumb.jpeg.b7d80ce536b7f493631099cc2ebc0661.jpegC7D682FF-2C63-4030-A683-7B4429CFA77E.thumb.jpeg.55da9ba06060c148fa4992d6181d8adc.jpeg

Here is a photo of the hagire. Also excuse any fingerprints, I let some self described “expert” fondle my collection, for the first and last time. I’m pretty sure they’ve all since been wiped off before I took pictures.

The small stamp is of the Suya Shoten comany.  They had a good reputation.  You must have already had the mei evaluated?  I thing a bunch of us would still enjoy seeing it.  Not often we get to see dirks with privately made blades.

Yeah no worries! I’ll take some pictures of the mei when I get home for you guys.

I ended up skipping it since the blade itself isn’t really that much in value considering the hagire (that I can see). There is about 3 other small chips in the blade that I assume are from someone chopping something with it.
