I mean if it was produced in 1918, that means that this swords were held in some kind of warehouse with the stock of them produced? Quote
Brian Posted April 22, 2023 Report Posted April 22, 2023 This is a BIG name. He made important swords. But the sword needs to be submitted for papers. There are LOTS of swords with false Sadakatsu signatures. If it turns out to be real, it would be an expensive sword. But if it is false (gimei) then the sword would be judged on the quality of the sword itself and not the signature. Swords without papers are usually considered gimei until proven otherwise. Either way, it's a real Japanese sword, but you need to have an expert look at it. Quote
Bryce Posted April 22, 2023 Report Posted April 22, 2023 G'day Arik, Actually it says Gassan Sadakazu, but it was probably signed by Sadakatsu for his father Sadakazu. I would love to see photos of the whole blade. Cheers, Bryce 1 Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted April 22, 2023 Report Posted April 22, 2023 Thank you, it was a Freudian slip as in my head the thought it may have been by Sadakatsu was there. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted April 22, 2023 Report Posted April 22, 2023 photos of the whole nakago would be appreciated, too. It's likely got a kao at the end of the mei. Quote
