reinhard Posted May 18, 2023 Report Posted May 18, 2023 Maybe we can agree on this: The blade in question is of high quality, way above most of the blades discussed here, and shows many features associated with Yamaura-school. Judgement on the basis of pictures/pixels is difficult. Perspective/camera-angle make judgement even more difficult. Let's wait for judgement of true experts, and I don't mean NMB, to narrow the question of the possible maker. reinhard 6 Quote
Alex A Posted May 18, 2023 Report Posted May 18, 2023 When any (potentially) big name blade in polish arises, one must ask theirself is there a chance it has already been to Shinsa. 1 Quote

Actually I was thinking the same, even for being a beginner I thought the actual angle and picture size used makes it tough to be able to tell anything. But this should be rather easily solved, maybe Stefan could try and do a few pictures and post those here? Thanks! Quote
Sutraken Posted May 23, 2023 Author Report Posted May 23, 2023 I tried to take pictures of the sugata, but I don‘t think that my photos will help to clear the above mentioned questions. 1 Quote
Sutraken Posted May 23, 2023 Author Report Posted May 23, 2023 Here are some of Ray‘s pictures, which I didn‘t post before. Perhaps they can give additional impressions of this Naginata Naoshi Wakizashi. 1 Quote
jsv Posted May 23, 2023 Report Posted May 23, 2023 I think the nakago looks too dark for late shinshinto and what is going on in this area? 1 Quote
Promo Posted May 24, 2023 Report Posted May 24, 2023 Thanks for providing additional pictures! I've did my best in a quick and dirty method and tried to match your two pictures to a single one. The hamon is quite high up in the blade, except for a part of the front half of the blade starting around the middle. @Ray Singer did you actually have the blade with you personally when you sold it, meaning you have had it in hands? Promo Posted May 28, 2023 Report Posted May 28, 2023 @Sutraken I thought your blade deserves a better side by side so I did the attached "enhaced version" of the previous image better (but still a bit "quick'n'dirty" since a bit of the red background is still visible) in Photoshop. Thought you may appreciate it: Quote
Sutraken Posted May 28, 2023 Author Report Posted May 28, 2023 Hello Georg, thank you for putting both pictures side by side. Quote
