Tensho Posted April 14, 2023 Report Posted April 14, 2023 Looking for opinions on this, I know not the most brilliant looking thing, but the large hitsu ana peaked my interest. Thank you. Dimensions: 7.7cm x 7.4cm Thickness 4mm Nakago ana 28mm Hitsu ana 20mm. Quote
Geraint Posted April 14, 2023 Report Posted April 14, 2023 Dear Matt. Speaking personally I would leave this one where it is. The plate does not seem to have any age and the irregularity of the whole design leaves me cold. The seppa dai is not seppa dai shaped and the overall crudeness of the sukashi looks pretty rough. What interests you about it? All the best 2 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted April 14, 2023 Report Posted April 14, 2023 As Geraint says. In my opinion it is one of the very many recent attempts to make money in this market! Quote
Tensho Posted April 14, 2023 Author Report Posted April 14, 2023 Thanks for the replies. I'm not a collector of tsuba. I got it with 2 other tsuba and seppa from Japan. Didn't think anything of the "circle" shape of the seppa dai as I have seen others like that. But compared to the other two the color seems off. And I agree with the crudeness of the nakago ana and overall design. The first photo i cleaned it with ivory and washed it with soap and dried it off. The below photo is after applying oil and wiping off. Quote
Spartancrest Posted April 15, 2023 Report Posted April 15, 2023 Could be a "hobby" piece? It just doesn't look 'aged'. Geraint is correct with the irregularity of the design, the sukashi doesn't follow the same line as the rim in a few spots. 1 Quote
