I have a Japanese sword that my uncle brought back from Burma during WW2 and I am wondering if anyone there can translate the Soshu script on the wooden case that I am told that means sleeping or not to be used.I thank you in advance.

Do you know what your Uncle got up to during the war?  Sometimes people who were there didn't manage to talk about it very much.
